10 New TV Couples We Are Most Excited For In 2022

10 New TV Couples We Are Most Excited For In 2022.. Let me begin by giving you a random quote from my wife’s favourite author Sarah Dessen.

I don’t necessarily remember the context of our conversation then or when she told me about the quote, suffice to say it was many moons ago.

10 New TV Couples We Are Most Excited For In 2022

All I do remember is the quote and the book it’s actually from.

It’s from her 2006 bestseller ‘The Truth about Love’ and its reads: “I have to admit; unrequited love is so much better than a real one. I mean, it’s perfect… As long as something is never even started, you never have to worry about it ending. It has endless potential.”

The quote forms the basis of my latest list which will detail 10 potential television couples that could make or break the year 2022.

The only thing better than an actual love story is a blossoming love story, what with the long lingering looks, gazes and glances, the awkward conversations, and swooning in some instances.

It’s all made for great television, but now is the time for the great pay-off.

Below is the first five potential couples to ship this year, and there are in no particular order.

Vivek and Anna (Grown-ish)

They say the best relationship are the ones that have a strong friendship has a foundation.

However, the writers for the ABC show ‘Grown-is’ like to paint the picture of the main couple Zoey (Yara Shahidi) and Aaron (Trevor Jackson) said such but that is not how is comes off on the show.

Yes, Arron has been there for Zoey’s big moments and always provided her with a shoulder to lean on, however, it has never been reciprocal.

Zoey does not bring the best out of her significant other, something evident by the Aaron breaking things off so as to be the best version of himself.

The title of best friendship has to go to Vivek (Jordan Burat) and Anna (Francia Raisa).

Widely regarded as two of the most underused, underrated, under-appreciated and every other under you can think of, cast members of the show.

Their primary use on the show is one of comic relief and to fill a racial quota, however, Burat and Raisa are way too good an actor and actress for that.

The show did plant some form of seeds of a potential relationship, albeit using a tired and clichéd trope, when the two hooked up in episode nine of the current season (four).

How this usually pans out is the boy and girl sleep together, the girl wakes up and regrets it after which she denies any potential for a relationship.

The two float around for some time until one of them (usually the boy) meets someone else, and the girl realises that she has feelings for the boy after all.

The only problem is that we have one episode left in the current season, and it looks like we will be another Zoey Johnson-centred finale again.

The good news is that the show has been renewed for a fifth season, and we will have to wait until that premiere to see the payout of whatever development on the Vivek and Anna front they put in the finale.

Chester and Allegra (The Flash)

New TV couples we are most excited for in 2022

The Flash’s Chester (Brandon McKnight) and Allegra (Kyla Compton) are the personification of unrequited love and have done everything from pinning for each other from afar, sending each other little gazes and glances, and tend to be awkward around each other.

Rather than drop breadcrumbs, season eight has thrown loaves of bread that these two will end up together.

They actually declare their love in episode four of the current eighth season and even share a passionate kiss when they think that Barry Allen as the Reverse-Flash is about to destroy the earth.

That was in an alternate timeline, but that is how this show likes their storylines to develop.

If you remember before Barry (Grant Gustin) and Iris (Candice Patton), they first saw a future by-line written Iris West-Allen, and then they were a married couple on Earth 2 again.

Chester and Allegra, given their standing on the show, won’t take as much time, but it will be fun to see how Chester’s awkwardness mashes with Allegra’s rough exterior.

Jessica Knight and Jimmy Palmer (NCIS)

Subtlety is obviously not CBS’ biggest suit especially when it regards the potential pairing of new NCIS special agent Jessica Knight (Katrina Law) and Chief medical examiner Jimmy Palmer.

Season 19, Episode 15, sees the latest member of the NCIS crew Jess in need of a date for her sister’s wedding.

After her plan A bails at her last minute, she asks everyone from bad boy Nick Torres (Wilmer Valderrama), the happily married Timothy McGee (Sean Murray) to the older and new boss Alden Parker (Gary Cole) to which they all say no.

However, when it comes to the most obvious and available option Jimmy Parker, she is both hesitant and reluctant.

In television and love, this is a clear tell-tell sign of potential feelings.

When she finally gathers the nerve to ask, the exchange is both awkward and sweet, showing signs of potential chemistry between the two.

After his wife died a while back, and he died himself, Jimmy Palmer needs a break, and the whole polar opposites that the two have going on is a reliable trope in television.

Otis and Maeve (Sex Education)

Assa Butterfield’s Otis and Emma Mackey’s Maeve have done everything from building a strong friendship, pining for each other to declaring their love and sharing a steamy and passionate kiss.

The only thing that is left for these star-crossed lovers is to become an actual couple and date.

The season three finale saw the two face their latest, and arguably biggest, obstacle as Maeve is accepted to a program in the US and has to leave for six months just as the two had finally come together.

Season four should make for some interesting times as the two actors have been confirmed to return, and this means we see how they reacted to being apart for months on end and how to reconnect.

Ted and Sassy (Ted Lasso)

Ted Lasso needs a girl and fast.

Jason Sudeikis’ Ted Lasso has been all about the healing and learning to let go for the past two seasons.

Thanks to Dr. Sharon Niles (Sarah Niles), the shrink that was introduced in season 2, Lasso confronted his demons caused by the death of his father when he was 16 and looks to have made peace with the failure of his marriage.

Now that the panic attacks are out in the open and, hopefully, a thing of the past, what Ted Lasso needs now is a good woman.

Ellie Taylor has killed it every time she has appeared on the show as Flo ‘Sassy’ Collins; and given that the two have already hooked up twice, she looks to be the prime candidate as a suitable mate for the coach.

The two actors, Taylor and Sudeikis, are extremely talented and funny people, so magic is all but guaranteed.

Besides, I will give my third lung to watch more scenes between Kiki May and Sudeikis.

May has appeared twice on the show as Sassy’s daughter Nora, but hasn’t really had much screen time with the show’s lead.

With the fate of the show beyond the upcoming fourth season still a mystery, we need more May and Taylor

Carly and Fred (iCarly)

Now, the ‘iCarly’ reboot is one of those ideas that should have never come to fruition.

But now that it is here, and has already been renewed for a second season, why not address one of the biggest misgivings of the original show- the Carly and Fred romance.

While they did flirt with the idea twice, during the show’s original run, the writers did not really go all-in on the romance.

The finale of the first season of the reboot- man, that is a mouthful- ended with Miranda Cosgrove’s Carly Shay stuck in a love triangle as she had to choose between her current and ex-boyfriend Wes and Beau.

Lurking in the background, however, was Freddie (Nathan Kress) depressed as ever and still looking to get his life in order.

The fact that both the old show and the reboot keep putting these two in dead-end relationships likely means that viewers might finally get the pay-off they have longed for many years.

Both the shows’ main stars have commented on the potential of Carly and Fred ending up together, and each dropped subtle hints that this may come to fruition.

“I think it’s just going to be very organic (if it happens),” said Kress, in a recent interview with Hollywood Life.

“(it will be more of a) slow burn”.

“They could say, ‘We’re such good friends. We belong together. We’ve been in each other’s lives for this long.

“What are we doing?’” he said.

Cosgrove was a bit more cryptic.

“I like Carly and Freddie’s relationship, and Nathan’s so much fun to work with in real life.

“We had a really good time.”

She then teased: “They might be endgame. They might have to be. Anything’s possible.”
