Disabled Woman Savagely Attacked By Giant Rat.. In a shocking development, a 76-year-old disabled woman has been hospitalised after a rat savagely attacked her in the United Kingdom.
Diana Kirk was left trembling with gory facial injuries after being discovered covered in her blood at 5.45 am on May 9 at their home in Bingham.
Diana’s husband, John Kirk (85), told Daily Mail that the 22cm rodent stayed in their sideboard where he kept bird seed. After the rat ravaged Diana, Mr Kirk and his neighbour caught it using a large steel trap, and the neighbour shot it dead with a pellet gun.
Mr Kirk said he was roused from his sleep on the day by the sound of a rat ‘scratching around’ at his feet, saying that he could not see it well since the room was dark. He could feel, however, that the rat was huge.
At around 1.30 am, he noticed the scratching again before falling asleep and waking up as usual just before 6 am.
When he went downstairs and checked on his wife in their living room, he saw her covered in blood with small bites marks across her face.
Diana Kirk has dementia and Parkinson’s Disease; thus, she is brain damaged and cannot move.
Recalling the fateful day, Mr Kirk said:
It was like a scene from Rambo. Absolutely horrific. She was just shaking with her hands by her neck staring up at me. I’ve never seen anything like the injuries she had – you can see how bad they were from the pictures.
It was absolutely savage. I went and knocked on the door of the young girl over the road as she is also always up early and so she helped. They took Diana to the Queen’s Medical Centre and she came back on Thursday night.
There were scratches on her face, her neck, her hands – it had tried to gnaw right through to the bone from the looks of it. There was blood everywhere.
