Former International Cricket Umpire Rudi Koertzen Dies In Car Crash

Former South African umpire Rudi Koertzen, labelled the ‘slow finger of death’ by the media, has died in a car accident, a family member told AFP on Tuesday. He was 73.

Reports say Koertzen and three others were killed in the crash in Riversdale.

They had been returning from Cape Town after a weekend of golf.

Koertzen lived in Despatch in Nelson Mandela Bay.

The cause of the crash is not yet known.
