Last night, Trevor Noah took his global fanbase by surprise when he announced that he will be exiting US late-night show, The Daily Show, after seven years.

Trevor said he is bowing out to focus more on his stand-up comedy career, which had somewhat slowed because of the demanding schedule of the Comedy Central late-night show.

Undoubtedly, The Daily Show sprung his career to international superstardom and made him a global icon.

Trevor also got significant opportunities through his exceptional and tickling comedy, which accompanied hard truths on American and global problems like racism and police brutality.

He hosted music’s biggest night, the GRAMMYs Awards, in 2021 and 2022 and presented an accolade at the 2019 Oscars.

Trevor has also featured in blockbusters like Black Panther and Coming To America.

It, therefore, goes without saying that all these opportunities have translated into immense monetary income in his bank account.

Daily Show Salary

According to Cosmopolitan, when Trevor Noah started hosting The Daily Show in 2015, his salary was around US$5-8 million [R90-143 million] per season.

Hollywood wealth tracker Celebrity Net Worth reported that in September 2017, Trevor extended his contract with Viacom, which owns Comedy Central. The contract shot his annual salary to US$16 million [R288 million] and is expiring this year.

So, since his debut on The Daily Show, Trevor has made about US$96 million, as Cosmopolitan stated.

“Born a Crime”

Sources confirmed to The Hollywood Reporter that Trevor made seven figures from a deal for the book “Born a Crime.” The memoir sold over 1 million copies from 2016 to 2019.

Trevor Noah got immense global exposure because of The Daily Show. He became one of the most sought-after stand-up comedians in the world.

A 2019 profile by The Hollywood Reporter revealed that his comedy tours had grossed almost US$14 million [R251 million]. In 2018, he earned US$5 million [R90 million].

Real Estate

Trevor Noah has also raked in millions from real estate.

Celebrity Net Worth reported that in January 2019, Trevor Noah bought a mansion in  Los Angeles for US$20 million [R359 million]. Two years later, he resold it for US$21.5 million [R385 million].

In January 2021, he bought another Los Angeles mansion for US$27.5 million [R493 million] and resold it for US$30 million [R538 million] that October. Trevor owns an apartment in New York, for which he paid around $10 million [R180 million].

Cosmopolitan estimates Trevor Noah’s net worth to be US$100 million [R1.8 billion].
