Snapchat users are reporting being unable to send snaps this morning, with many concerned they could lose their streaks.
Snapstreaks show how many consecutive days you have shared snaps with a friend.
More than 9,000 people have logged issues with outage tracker Downdetector, with the problems appearing to start at around 7am. Here is everything we know so far.
Is Snapchat down?
Snapchat has not officially acknowledged it is having issues. However, it is aware users are unable to send snaps, as its Snapchat Support Twitter account has been replying to people.
“Hi! Let’s see how we can help. Send us a DM with some details on what’s happening and we’ll take it from there,” it told people.
Many people have also been using Twitter and other social media to share memes about Snapchat’s outage. “Whenever Snapchat goes down it reinforces how much I need it to be social,” one user commented.
Some users have suggested clearing your cache to fix the problem, though most are saying this does not work.
To clear your cache in the Snapchat app:
- Click on your Bitmoji at the top left to open your profile
- Tap the Settings icon in the top right
- Click on “Account Actions”
- Select “Clear Cache”
- Choose the “Clear All Cache” option
How can I keep my snapstreaks?
To keep a snapstreak going, both chatters must send a snap within a 24-hour window. However, if Snapchat’s issues prevent you from doing this, you may be able to get your streak back.
Head to “Settings” > “I need help” > “Contact us” > I’ve lost my snapstreak and Snapchat may be able to restore your streak for you.
