Quinton de Kock smashed the third-highest individual score in Indian Premier League (IPL) history to help the Lucknow Super Giants edge the Kolkata Knight Riders on Wednesday.
The Proteas wicketkeeper-batsman opened the innings and hit an unbeaten 140 off just 70 ball.

Fellow opener and captain KL Rahul scored 68 not out off 58 deliveries to help the Super Giants post a total of 210 without loss in their allotted 20 overs.
De Kock’s 140 sits only behind Chris Gayle’s 175* in 2013 and Brendon McCullum’s 158* in 2008 on the list of highest individual scores in the history of the IPL.
QUINTON DE KOCK AND KL RAHUL THE FIRST OPENERS TO CARRY THEIR BATS
De Kock, who hit 10 fours and 10 sixes in his knock, and Rahul also became the first opening partnership in IPL history to bat through an innings.
Incredibly, the Knight Riders should’ve won the match as they needed just three runs off the last two balls.
However, Australian Marcus Stoinis won the game for the Super Giants with wickets off both those deliveries.
Knight Riders captain Shreyas Iyer (50 off 29), Nitish Rana (42 off 22), Sam Billings (36 off 24) and Rinku Singh (40 off 15) kept them in the run-chase, but they ultimately fell just short, losing by two runs.
The Super Giants have booked their place in the playoffs, while the Knight Riders missed out this season.
