Seven suspects arrested during weekend police integrated operations.. Seven people have been arrested on charges related to the possession of firearms, business robbery and dealing in liquor across Cape Town.
The efforts by members of Atlantis Crime Prevention Unit to curb gang violence in our communities yielded positive results when two suspects aged 18 and 15 were arrested for the possession unlicensed firearms and ammunition on Friday evening, November 12 in Atlantis.
According to Sergeant Wesley Twigg, the members were busy with stop and search operations when they noticed the suspects running from the police.
“The suspects were apprehended and searched and found with a .38 special revolver and a 9mm pistol in their possession,” said Twigg.
The suspects will make their court appearances on Monday November 15 2021 in Atlantis Magistrate court.
Meanwhile, in an unrelated matter, three suspects were arrested on a charges of business robbery, kidnapping and possession of stolen property after they perpetrated a business robbery in Eersteriver on Friday, November 12.
The trio were reportedly nabbed after they tried to escape from police in Detroit Street Malibu Village, while boxes of cigarettes were recovered, Twigg reports.
Members of Mfuleni police also arrested a 36-year-old suspect for dealing in liquor in Mfuleni. “The members were busy conducting a liquor operation when the suspect were arrested with a large quantity of liquor on his premises without a license,” Twigg adds.
The suspects will appear in Blue Downs Magistrates court on Monday November 15 2021 to face the charges against them.
On Saturday night, November 13 around 10pm, a 25-year-old suspect was arrested in Heinz Park for the possession of an unlicensed firearm and ammunition. The suspect was arrested with a 9mm Norinco pistol in his possession.
