A Heartbreaking video of Veteran Emzini Wezinsizwa actor Vusi Thanda (Tshawe) begging for money from the public has surfaced. Vusi Thanda is one of the most iconic entertainers in Mzansi as he graced our screens with his talent for decades.

The actor is known to many as the lovable Tshawe on the popular Hostel drama Emzini Wezinsizwa.
The series aired in the 90s on SABC1, about five men who live in a hostel and face everyday challenges that result in hilarious consequences.

Vusi Thanda made Tshawe a lovable character, starting every sentence with his famous line, “As far as I am concerned”.

A video of the actor started making rounds on social media yesterday and immediately caught the attention of many.

The actor looks disgruntled and frail in the video and holds a bank card, thanking everyone who has donated some money to him and pleading with all to help him where they can.

The video caused an uproar and a debate between tweeps about the entertainment industry in Mzansi.

Vusi has been on our screen since the 80s, and questions about actors like him not saving the money they receive for jobs came up.

The SA entertainment industry has been called into question many times because many actors like Mr Thanda have died in poverty.

Twitter users took to the comment section to expose that actor for poppers because they have no union representation and, therefore, no knowledge of how to claim their royalties.

Thanda is not the first celebrity to come out and ask for donations from the public. Recently we all saw the public cry for help from Dr Malinga and the backlash it received. Zahara is another one who almost lost her possessions after hitting hard times.

Vusi Thanda recently appeared on The Queen as Gracious Mabuza’s uncle Mziwoxolo.

Production houses have been called into question for their shortcomings regarding actors’ rights in this country.
Commenters also called out The South African Arts and Culture Minister Nathi Mthethwa for neglecting artists in the country.

Commenters rehashed a recent incident where the Minister faced a huge backlash when he approved R20 million for a project to erect a South African Flag. The project ended up being put on hold after celebrities like Bonang Matheba side-eyed the gesture calling it Ludacris and disrespectful to entertainers.
