Gad has started his career at the renowned ENPPI academy before making it to the first team where he currently plays in 2018.

The youngster made his first-team debut against Shoban Qena in the 2018 Egypt Cup where he also got his first clean sheet in a 3-0 blue victory.

Since then, he made 85 appearances overall, in which he kept a clean sheet on 26 occasions while conceding 94 goals.

The 23-year-old was a part of the Egyptian squad that reached the quarterfinals in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

His performances with ENPPI have also earned him a spot in Egypt’s national team squad for the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations where they reached the final, before losing to Senegal on penalties.

Moreover, after seeing his potential, Egyptian giants Al Ahly and Zamalek have been keeping tabs on the young keeper.

However, the goalkeeper’s next move could be outside of Egypt as EFL Championship newly-promoted outfit Wigan Athletic have been monitoring his progress.

In case he makes it to Wigan, Gad would become the first Egyptian professional goalkeeper to play in England and the second Arab goalkeeper to represent the Latics after Omani legend Ali El-Habsi.

He could also become the fourth Egyptian to ply his trade at the club after Ahmed Hossam Mido, Amr Zaki, and Sam Morsy.

Gad will also join a long list of Egyptians to have played in the Championship alongside the likes of Ahmed Elmohamady, Adam El-Abd, Ahmed Hegazi, Geddo, Ahmed Fathi, Mido, and Sam Morsy.

However, it won’t be easy for Gad to earn himself a spot in the starting XI as he will face competition from former Manchester United keeper Ben Amos, who kept 16 clean sheets in League One last season.

Wigan have advanced to the Championship by topping the Football League One, and they now hope to make it back to the Premier League.
